Johnny Violent has been diagnosed with ulcerated oesophagitis after
nearly two years of severe intermittent chest pain and nausea, along
with the odd prescription drug hell that would've packed non-hardcore
artists off to rehab. "I didn't really want to bring it up
but it's gone on too long now. It was misdiagnosed a couple of times,
then it would clear up and come back again. Meantime, stomach acid
has been burning a lovely big hole in my chest." The oesophagitis
was eventually detected via an endoscopy - a stomach examination
with a camera that carries a six month waiting list on the UK's
National Health Service. "I'm getting drug treatment now which'll
hopefully clear it up in the next few months." Team UVR news
will keep you posted. Expect a full JV interview where he will discuss
his future plans in the next few weeks. Right now head over to the
mobile section to pick up new ringtones, produced under the influence
of Prozac. Not that you'd guess to listen to them

- Little Sap Dungeon release their "Empty Rooms Breathe
Heavily" remix album on the 1st of June featuring an Ultraviolence
mix of top track "Goblin Corridor" as well as mixes by
Mick Harris, Circuit Surgeon and others. Released jointly on the
Dungeon/Backscatter labels, check their respective websites at dungeon-recordings.com
& backscatter.biz .

You
can hear Johnny spinning his mix himself at Industry in Belfast
this Saturday - the club was christened a few months ago by the
great Lenny Dee and the night features DJs spinning a variety of
extreme music genres - should be fun. Johnny will also be playing
an all new UV track "The Photographer," probably with
new versions of "Stigmata" and "Blow Your Fucking
Mind" as well as new hardcore from Holland and the States,
older material and some surprises. Meanwhile Allezbleu continues
her DJ residency at Inferno, Electric Ballroom, London on the first
Friday of every month.

On
a more annoying note Ultraviolence is once again without an agent
or a manager. "If anyone has balls they'll find out my phone
number and apply that way!" exclaimed Johnny about the vacant
position(s). Ideal applicants will be experienced, well connected,
and show a willingness to just get on with it.

- Videodrome
Internet artist and animator Mata has made an animated music video
for the classic Ultraviolence "boom, hiss and clang" anthem
I Am Destructor. Check www.matazone.co.uk/animpages/ultraviolence.html
to view the impressive results and why not leave him a nice message
while you're there.

- Ultraviolence Reactivated
Ultraviolence
are now completely free of any obligation to Earache Records and are
working on new material with the line-up familiar to those of you
who caught the live shows six months or so ago. Mel Allezbleu joins
the band as permanent angle grinder and vocalist - indeed she and
Johnny were spotted Ultraviolence regular haunt Rubber Biscuit studios
recently, recording yelping, whips, industrial machinery and vocal
samples that will please fans of tracks such as Masochist. Charlie
Sanderson will continue to provide vocals both live and in the studio
but cannot be considered a permanent member of the band due to commitments
to her own band Urban Space (check them out at www.urbanspacelab.com
) as well as her theatrical work. So a duo and a half then. Should
make for an interesting photo shoot come August...
The live shows will also be coming in thick and fast...already confirmed
to play The Garage on the 8th October Ultraviolence will be all over
the UK in the Autumn playing new and classic tracks - please place
any suggestions on the message board
As well as new Ultraviolence material Johnny has been mixing ace US
horrorshockanddoom merchants Little Sap Dragon. Check them out at
www.dungeon-recordings.com.

- Girl Powered
TeamUVR.com
news is happy to announce the recruitment of a new Ultraviolence live
angle grinder in the shape of the exotically named Allezbleu who has
sent sparks flying at numerous international fetish events as well
as Infest and Whitby where this photo was taken. Feast your eyes on
this, unworthy person...

This means that
Ultraviolence live shows will be made up of predominantly female
performers. A deliberate move towards feminism for the band? "It
just sort of happened like that," Johnny Violent told us "although
it should add a new element to some of the tracks. Female empowerment
is totally cool by me." He then spoilt it all by adding "That's
why I'm fat and have short hair!" Whilst Johnny isn't especially
fat he will certainly look rather burly compared with his shapely
new recruits. Debuting in Bristol on 19th Nov.

- Get the Charlie.
Ultraviolence now has a new live vocalist named Charlie Sanderson
who will be making her debut at the Bristol show 19/11/04. She's totally
cool so please give her a nice welcome if you're coming down.
Johnny has written up the story of her recruitment in the diary section
in the style of, um, a '70s exploitation movie. Click
here to read. |

- Oh FUCK!
Unfortunately, the live date in Leeds 05/12/04 has been cancelled
due to circumstances completely beyond the control of Ultraviolence.
Nonetheless, Johnny would like to apologise for any inconvenience
caused. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" he said. There will be more
shows in the Midlands and everywhere else in the new year as well
as Birmingham this year, although this has now been moved to 10/12/04
due to circumstances etc...Ultraviolence will now be playing in Aberdeen
04/12/04 - full details to follow. |

- Rewind...Due to time spent re-mastering the "Blown
Away" CDs to remove a track (see "Jumping Ship") the
release date has been put back to the 6th of December. Earache Records
have assured Johnny that the new date is realistic and will be adhered
to. |
4/10/04
- And now the good news...
Ultraviolence Live dates for the end of this year are coming through
thick and fast - check gigs/releases for details. |

2/10/04 -
Jumping ship...
Unfortunately,
the WVKEAF track "Jump" will no longer appear on the "Blown
Away" compilation. This is due to circumstances completely
beyond the control of Ultraviolence. The CD will now run at "only"
thirty tracks. TeamUVR.com news tried to track Johnny down for comment
but he was sulking...

- The Kat has Fled!
It is with
some regret that TeamUVR.com news announces that long standing Ultraviolence
live singer Katty Heath will no longer be appearing with the band
due to commitments with Ministry of Sound's dance act Bent and her
own band The Herb Birds. Katty's excellent vocals could be heard at
UV shows 1998-2002 as well as top UV tracks "Elektra" and
"Speed and Distance." Keep tabs on her activities at www.herb-birds.co.uk
and www.bent-world.com .
A replacement will be announced shortly - watch this space. |

- Return of the Diary
Ultraviolence's Johnny
Violent has exclusively informed TeamUVR.com News that his online
diary is making a comeback, with the first instalment in over a year
featuring him single-handedly taking a train from Nottingham to Edinburgh
whilst writing his thoughts on his forthcoming album. So why the long
gap, we asked him.
"Well," he mused "there hasn't been much going on and
there's only so much I can write about drink and mountain bikes. And
anyway..." he continued defensively "...it's better than
what your diary would be like if you wrote one!"
When pressed on the issue of his long yet stupidly out of date biography
Violent was last seen hiding behind his bear
squealing "SOON! SOOOON!" |
